What They Do

The Lighting Programmer works alongside or under the LD to build and maintain the console's cue list, preset library, and effects palette. Programming work happens in pre-production and continues through tech rehearsal as the show evolves. The programmer must understand both the creative intent and the technical system — fixture types, patch, network protocol (Art-Net / sACN), and console architecture — to deliver a show-ready file that the board op can execute efficiently.

Console experience covers ETC Eos family (Ion Xe, Gio, Ti, Apex), grandMA3 and grandMA2, Avolites Titan (Sapphire Touch, Quartz, Arena), and ChamSys MagicQ.
