What They Do

The Mixing Engineer operates the front-of-house console on productions where the mix position is a dedicated seat separate from the A1 system engineer role. On large productions where the A1 is focused on system design, gain structure, and cross-discipline coordination, the mixing engineer owns the program mix in real time — balancing inputs, riding faders, and shaping the audience's experience of the show from first sound check through the final cue.
