What They Do

Camera operators capture the live event for IMAG, recording, or broadcast. The op owns framing, focus, and exposure at their position, works a coverage plan coordinated with the video director before show, and delivers a consistent, on-spec picture to the switcher throughout the run. Output is SDI or HDMI, routed through a distribution amp or camera control unit (CCU) to the switcher.

Common camera packages: Sony PXW series (PXW-Z280, FX9, FX6 on shoulder or tripod), Canon EOS Cinema (C70, C300 III), and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema bodies. Color matching across camera positions is coordinated between the camera ops and the shader or switch op.
