The Steadicam Operator operates a Steadicam rig for smooth, stabilized camera movement through the space — following talent, moving through the crowd, or executing tracking shots that a locked-off or handheld camera can't achieve cleanly. Used on shows where cinematic movement is part of the production value.
The Steadicam op works the coverage plan with the video director before show and executes moves during the event — often at broadcast quality for shows where the Steadicam feed is part of the ISO record or live IMAG cut. Coordination with the camera switch op and EIC ensures the feed is clean and on-spec when it hits the switcher.
