Camera Shader / Painter
Manages camera shading from a remote control panel (RCP) — adjusting iris, exposure, white balance, and color across all camera positions to maintain a matched, consistent picture.
The Shader / Painter Operator manages camera shading from a remote control panel (RCP) — adjusting iris, exposure, white balance, and color across all camera positions to maintain a matched, consistent picture. On multi-camera shows, the shader is what makes every camera look like it belongs to the same production.
Shading is typically done from the video village using an RCP connected to CCUs at each camera position. The shader works closely with the camera ops and the EIC throughout the day — from initial camera matching at load-in through the full run of show — ensuring that every cut the switcher op makes lands cleanly and uniformly.
