Camera Switcher
Selects and cuts between live camera sources at the video director's direction — a dedicated seat on broadcast or IMAG-heavy shows separate from the main production switcher op.
The Camera Switch Operator selects and cuts between live camera sources at the direction of the video director. On broadcast or IMAG-heavy shows, this is a dedicated seat separate from the production switcher op — the camera switch feeds a selected camera program into the switcher as a single clean source, simplifying the switcher op's workload on complex multi-camera shoots.
Timing is everything in this seat: clean cuts on action, holding reads, and anticipating the director's next call before it arrives. The camera switch op must know every camera position and be watching all feeds simultaneously.
