What They Do

The high-resolution switch operator runs the production switcher for shows where the primary signal chain operates at high resolution — 4K, UHD, or multi-channel HD with tight latency and format requirements. This position demands familiarity with large-format switcher platforms, ME bus architecture, and the ability to execute clean transitions precisely on cue across multiple simultaneous destinations: main screen, confidence, IMAG, broadcast feed, and ISO record.

Primary switchers: Grass Valley Korona and Karrera series, Ross Video Carbonite Black and Ultrix, Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation, and Roland V-1200HD / V-160HD. On complex multi-bus shows, the switch op may also manage chroma key setups, PiP sources, clean-feed routing, and ISO record splits.
