Manages the pre-recorded content stack — package videos, b-roll, animations, and any triggered content that integrates with the live show.
The Playback Operator manages the pre-recorded video content stack — package videos, b-roll, animations, and any triggered content that integrates with the live show. The op maintains a cue list or playlist aligned to show flow, executes starts and stops on cue, and coordinates timecode or cue calls with the video director and show caller.
Common playback tools include Mitti (single-channel, low-latency Mac-based playback favored for reliability in corporate environments), Resolume Arena (multi-layer, clip-based playback with real-time control), Millumin (multi-output, projection-mapping-capable), and vMix (integrated with live production). On demanding shows, playback runs on purpose-built server hardware with SSD RAID arrays and dual-machine redundancy for seamless failover.
