RF & Comms Technician

The RF/Comms technician owns intercom and wireless coordination from the ground up — designing the deployment, managing the RF spectrum, and making sure every wireless device on the show operates cleanly. On large-scale events with dozens of wireless channels, this position is what keeps the air clean and the crew talking.

What the Role Owns

Responsibilities

  • RF Coordination & Spectrum Management Maps the RF environment before the show, coordinates frequencies, and deploys channels to avoid interference.
  • Intercom System Design & Deployment Designs and deploys the intercom architecture — who talks to whom, how, and on which beltpack or panel.
  • Wireless Microphone & IEM Deployment Deploys and manages all wireless mics and in-ear monitor systems for the show.
  • Large-Scale RF Management On complex shows with many simultaneous wireless channels, uses RF coordination software to manage the entire deployment systematically.
  • Show Support Monitors all wireless channels throughout the show, troubleshoots interference, and swaps or re-coordinates as needed without interrupting program.
