Webcast & Streaming Technician

The webcast/streaming technician encodes, switches, and delivers live streams to any destination — a CDN, a virtual meeting platform, or a broadcast feed. They also place and deploy robotic (robocam) and webstream cameras, whether permanently integrated into a venue or a temporary deployment for a single event.

What the Role Owns

Responsibilities

  • Encode & Delivery Configures and operates the streaming encode chain: input, compression, output, and CDN or platform delivery.
  • Switching & Program Operates the stream switcher, cutting between sources to produce a clean, professional program feed for remote audiences.
  • Robocam Deployment & Operation Places, cables, and operates robotic camera systems for webcasts — both temporary event deployments and permanent venue installs.
  • Platform Integration Integrates with virtual meeting and streaming platforms (Zoom, Teams, YouTube, etc.) and manages stream health throughout the event.
  • Remote Audience QA Monitors the delivered stream from the audience's perspective throughout the show and corrects any issues in real time.
