Media Server

Media Server Technician

The media server technician manages content mapping, timeline programming, and the feeds that drive projection surfaces and LED walls. They translate creative intent into a working technical system — building the map, programming the timeline, and making sure every pixel lands where it should, in sync, at the right time.

What the Role Owns

Responsibilities

  • Content Mapping Maps video content to physical output surfaces — screens, LED walls, projection — ensuring geometry, scale, and warping are pixel-accurate.
  • Timeline Programming Programs and operates the show timeline, cueing content in sync with lighting, audio, and live program.
  • Feed Management Manages all outputs to downstream displays and processors, ensuring each destination receives the correct signal at the correct resolution.
  • System Redundancy Builds in backup paths and failover within the media server rig. On a live show, a single-point-of-failure media server is unacceptable.
  • Coordination with LED & EIC Works closely with the LED technician and EIC to ensure processing chains, resolutions, and timing are aligned across the video system.
